Tehran set to host national crafts exhibit in August
TEHRAN - Wide-ranging Iranian handcrafts from every corner of the country will be put on show at the 28th National Crafts Exhibition, which will be held at the Tehran Permanent International Fairground from August 23 to 29.
“Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization Director Zahra Ahmadipour has invited all ministers and senior officials to visit the exhibit,” CHTN quoted Pouya Mahmoudian, the director of the CHTHO Exports Department as saying on Saturday.
Craftspeople native to 31 provinces will promote their skills in various fields at the halls no. 14, 15 and 25 that are designated to the showcase, she added.
The event will touch upon woodwork, illuminated manuscript, miniature, textile printing, enamel, leatherwork, handwoven products, calligraphy, traditional musical instruments, metalwork, and marquetry, amongst a lavish patchwork of other works.
Over the past couple of years, dozens of high-quality Iranian handicrafts have been honored with the UNESCO Seal of Excellence.
